Duty free allowances for arrivees from non-European
Union countries are as follows:
1 litre of spirits or 2 litres of fortified
or sparkling wine and 2 litres of still table
wine;
200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos, or 50 cigars,
or 250g of tobacco;
60cc perfume and 250cc eau de toilet;
gifts up to a maximum value of £145.
Duty free was abolished in 1999 for travel between
EU countries, but EU visitors bringing goods
on which duty has already been paid in their
own countries have much more generous quotas
(such as 90 litres of wine and 800 cigarettes,
or any amount likely to be for personal use).
It is prohibited to bring animals, plants, perishable
foods, certain drugs, firearms adn obscene material
into the country without prior arrangement.

or British currency which can be bought into
