::Scotland::The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle
"Osprey circling in the blue sky above, salmon leaping in the loch, roe deer in the forest - and a memorable, historic castle set in seven thousand acres of enchanting landscape." The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle recreates the Skibo of Carnegie's time, providing members with a unique and private refuge from the hectic world. Our members are treated like house-guests of a great sporting estate of the Edwardian era when service and style were indeed very special. Here in one of the Europe's most natural and unspoilt settings, enchanting landscapes, unique glimpses of the renowned wildlife and the sheer beauty of Skibo Castle will provide memorable times for our members and their guests.

Throughout history Skibo has held a position of prominence. Its Celtic name was Schytherbolle, which translates as fairyland or place of peace. Indeed the estate [click to enlarge]appears to have held some magical attraction for all its owners. Nature has certainly excelled in providing the most tranquil of settings, but as is too often the case man and nature are rarely in harmony. The chequered history of Skibo reflects the chequered history of the highlands, and this provides much of Skibo's enchantment. (More Pictures Here) The castle forms the principle clubhouse, offering reception rooms with bedrooms and bathrooms of individual character.

21 magnificent original bedrooms are available in the castle. The fully restored reception rooms are a tribute to the craftsmanship, opulence and splendour of the Edwardian era.

The Estate is in two parts; the grouse moors, deer forests and lochs which open out on the wild and dramatic 'flow country' of Sutherland and Caithness - and the Castle, strikingly set in landscaped grounds and wonderful mature parklands which sweep down to the Dornoch Firth. The manicured gardens maintained in the traditional Victorian design surround the Castle and individual Lodges.
The Estate includes one of Scotland's finest and most secluded castles, exceptionally furnished with many original Carnegie features.

GARDENS, PARKLANDS AND FARMS:
The Estate has extensive, immaculately maintained gardens, parkland and woodlands with numerous lochs, as well as a large tidal inlet with dunes and beaches. The Estate also has two farms which, together with the gardens, supply the Club with fresh produce.

The Accommodation
Scotland's dreamiest Castle. what's wrong with the place? I really had difficulty finding fault. In my experience, the
service had the detailed, personalised, and easy elegance you get in only the very best".

G. Dryansky - Conde Nast Traveller Magazine

Members or guests of The Carnegie Club stay either in the Castle or in one of our Lodges. As one would expect from a man like Andrew Carnegie, the twenty-one sumptuous Castle bedrooms are large, individually designed and bursting with character. Many of the rooms remain untouched since Andrew Carnegie last stayed. Unique features include original bathrooms with tiles walls, mosaic floors and bidets to bring tears to the driest of eyes. Other bathrooms have enormous baths sitting in the middle of carpeted floors. Beds are large and comfortable - some are four posters - and all rooms are either doubles or twins.
